China Southern Power Grid said that the power gap of China reached 10%, and in Guangxi, Guizhou Province, the gap even exceeded 20%.
Since May of this year, China experienced the worst-ever power shortage since 2004, especially in Hunan, Jiangxi, Chongqing and Guangxi Province. Power shortage leads that lots of Medium and small-sized enterprises are stopping producing, because they cannot burden high expensive material cost generated by electric generator. It’s estimated that this situation will be lasted for many years. It’s said that the market of sulfates salts are not very stable because of this very serious power shortage, which lead that the price of zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate etc. increased a lot.
As far as we know, China is staying in an industrialized and urbanized stage, partial and temporary power shortage is a relative phenomenon, and it can be settled with some ways. Now in China, the percentage of thermal power to the total power is exceeding 80%. So the key to settle power shortage is utilizing thermal power and related links.
However, in this very pivotal time, the related department has to take a long-lasting and market measures, and we hope that this power shortage can be the driving force of reform to power price and system.
