The minimum iron content of ferrous sulphate monohydrate and ferrous sulfate heptahydrate produced by Rech Chemical Co. Ltd is separately 30% and 19.7%, which are full qualified the national standard. As enterprise users, how to test the iron content in practical applications?

The most common method to test iron content in ferrous sulfate is titration method with heavy collaterals potassium acid standard solution. The specific steps are follows:
1.     Weight and put a certain amount of ferrous sulfate in a conical flask.
2.     Mix 3 mol/L sulfuric acid and 85% phosphoric acid together and add the dissolved solution in the flask.
3.     With diphenylamine sulfonate as indicator, titrate with prepared potassium dichromate solution.
4.     When ferric iron deoxidated into bivalent iron, then the total ferrous iron consumption could be counted .

This test method, simple and accurate, is proper solution for ferrous sulfate consuming enterprises who need iron content in applications.
