Rech Chemical Co. LTD are happy to share the method of analysis of ferrous sulfate monohydrate as follow:
Weight out 1g of Ferrous Sulphate Monohydrate and dissolve into 250ml Conical flask with 100 ml distilled water.Add50 ml of Zimmermann Reinhardt Solution then titrate with Standard Potassium Permanganate Solution until the pink Color persists.
Calculation:
FeSO4.H2O = N.V.x 169.8x 100
G.x 1000
N = Concentration of Standard Potassiium Permanganate
V = Volume of Standard Potassiium Permanganate
G = Weight of Ferrous sulphate monohydrate
PREPARATION OF 0.1 N. POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE
Weight out 3.2 g of Portassium Permanganate on a watch glass.Transfer it to a 1500 ml beaker.Add 1 Liter of water.Cover the beaker with a clock watch.Hear the solution to boling,gontly for 15-30 minutes and Allow the solution to cool the laboratory temperature.The solution though a funnel containing a plug of purified glass wool,or though a coach crucible provide with a pad of purified asbestos,or most simply though a sintered.Collect the filtrate in a vessel which has been cleaned with chromic and mixture and also throughly washed with distilled water.The filtrate solution should be stored in a clear stoppered bottle,and kept in the dark or in diffuse light except when in use.
PREPARATION OF STANDARD 0.1 N SODIUN OXALATE NA2C2O4
Dry some A.R. Sodium Oxalate at 105-110C for 2 hours and allow it to cool in covered vessel in a desiccaror.Weigh out accuratelly 1.675g. of dry Sodium Oxalate into a beaker containing 50 ml of distilled water.Add 10 ml of 1+1 H2SO4 .Stir and dissolve then transfer to 25 ml volumetric flask and make up to the mark.
STANDARDIZE POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE SOLUTION WITH 0.1 N STANDARD
SODIUM OXALATE SOLDIUM
Pipett 25 ml Standard Sodium Oxalate Solution in to a 125 ml conical flake.Heat to 90-95C, then titrate rapidly with Potassium Permanganate Solution.
PREPARATION OF ZIMMERMANN RELNHARDT SOLUTION
Dissolve 17g of Manganese Sulphate(MnSO4.H2O) into 100ml water.Add 50 ml of 85%
Phosphosic acid and 30ml of coac.Sulfuric acid.Then make up to 250 ml.
By the way, how to test iron or Fe content in ferrous sulfate can be found in our website.
